Mir

Ion is a 34-year-old man with the callsign “Mir” (which means “peace”). He is a peacekeeper serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His homeland is sunny Moldova.

Ion knows firsthand what it means when invaders come to your land. That’s why his decision to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces was conscious and deeply responsible.

His family holds a pro-Russian position, and when they learned about his choice, they turned their backs on him. Ion walked his military path alone — from the first shot fired to being discharged due to a severe injury.

He was left to face his problems on his own, without support from family or friends. It was only thanks to the help of volunteers, fellow soldiers, and caring strangers that he managed to get back on his feet.

Ukraine became his second home.
"The horse is one of the sacred animals in my sanctuary — and horses, they always represent freedom. And we all need freedom," says Ion.
