The artist is a father of a military man, Oleksandr, who died in September 2014. Oleksandr's unit was encircled and engaged in battle - with the overwhelming forces of the enemy, occupying a circular defense. While repelling the attack, Oleksandr received a fatal injury. In this painting, the butterfly becomes a visual representation of hope, transformation, and the belief in the eternal nature of the soul.
