Vasyl, a 44-year-old reconnaissance soldier, joined the defense of Ukraine at the start of the full-scale invasion. After sustaining serious injuries during the defense of Kharkiv region, he spent months in a wheelchair. Endless treatments, attempts to walk again — and more surgeries. He’s had dozens. Now, Vasyl is relearning how to walk with his own legs. He says that it was the love and unwavering faith of his wife that saved him — like a guardian angel protecting him from death.
