The author is a solder, from Odesa. After entering the hospital in Klevan, he began to study Ukrainian, being very studious. He moved to Lviv and married a volunteer psychologist who worked at the Lviv hospital. For this painting, he painted the eye of a child, which serves as a symbolic representation of hope for a brighter future without war, turmoil, and fear. The gaze of the child's eye reflects optimism and a yearning for peace.
