Hupko Volodymyr, a young man aged 27, is a serviceman in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was one of the first to face the enemy in the Kherson region. Due to severe injuries, he was bedridden for a long time and had to relearn basic tasks – eating on his own, brushing his teeth, washing his face. But the hardest trial for him was not the physical struggle, but the emotional one.

A week before he was wounded, Volodymyr had proposed to his fiancée. However, upon regaining consciousness in the ICU and realizing the extent of his injuries, he broke off the engagement, not wanting to be a burden to his beloved Nataliya. She listened to him, then left the hospital room, bought a ticket, and went home – only to gather her things and return, never to leave his side again.

Today, Volodymyr moves freely in a wheelchair and is deeply grateful to Nataliya – now his loving wife – for her warmth, love, and unwavering support. His cherished dream is to visit the United States. The bald eagle has been the national emblem of the U.S. for years, and by painting its image on canvas, he feels as though he is one step closer to his dream.
